On February 17, 2022, the first ever Hex.com Nascar driven by @jjyeley1 took to the qualifying stage of the Daytona 500. The race started out with the Hex car losing significant time, more than a second a lap, and to be honest I thought we were done before the 10th lap.
Miraculously, the only car that #55 needed to finish in front of, #50(Floyd Mayweather's sponsored car), was flagged for speeding in the pit and was penalized by having to wait for a given period before getting back in the race.
It was as if it was meant to be. @jjyeley1 had managed to separate himself by a number of cars by the 30th lap, and it seemed like surely he would qualify. Unfortunately, it would not be enough.
On the very last lap of the race, the #50 car passed @jjyeley1 on the last corner, ending the journey before it could begin for the Daytona 500. Today, however we have not only another chance to see the Hex.com car take the stage, but a new car entirely.
The #66 car was originally supposed to be a Toyota Supra, but from sources on twitter(https://twitter.com/agapehex/status/1498411159648571392) it suffered damage and would be replaced by the Ford Mustang backup car.
With many from the Hex community making the trip to Vegas, many impressions are sure to be made over the weekend and hopefully we will see the #66 car on the podium to give @jjyeley1 and HEX.com their well deserved spotlight. It won't be easy though.
The field is made up of 38 other drivers, with the Hex car qualifying in 30th place. In Qualifying, the Hex car was only 1.402 seconds off the lead. It seems that we have quite the show incoming tonight.
The race begins 1:30 PM/EST and should be aired on Fox Sports 1. Good luck to JJ Yeley and the Hex community!
